Input device / Input source

Select the device, then a source if the operating system exposes it. Microphone and Line In may share capture channels; two connectors do not imply two independent stereo inputs. A combined source is available only when the device actually supports it.

Output device / Output channels

Compare the active channel count with the supported maximum. Where a format selector is offered, select the required output count and confirm Use selection. 7.1 means up to eight output channels, not eight inputs.

Output mode / Use selection

Single device uses one device. Aggregate outputs combines supported outputs with channel order, clock reference and offset. Rescan hardware refreshes the list; Use selection applies the choice. Schedule hardware changes outside playback.
